If you’re on a budget for decorating, we have a super simple way of making rustic yet charming personalized initial tags for plain Christmas stockings. Of course you could knit or crochet your own, but I didn’t want to spend the time so we found a 4 pack of 15″ natural white stockings from Amazon for about $22! Link below.
For the tags, we cut slices of a branch that had been seasoned for a while into discs about 1/4″ thick. They are about 3 1/2″ but you can use what ever size you like! We also had some bakers twine laying around and decided to use this to attach them to the stockings. Another option we were thinking of the was the standard brown twine as it would also match but we opted for bakers as it was a bit more Christmas-y
Next, we drilled a hole for the string.
Lastly, I went on Pinterest and instantly was inspired by a lettering that I found and used a pencil to outline the design. Then with a fine tip sharpie, I drew the letters the way I wanted them to look. Finally, erased any remaining pencil lines. We had red and white bakers twine so we used that but any twine will do. Voilà! So easy! I highly recommend this if you’re pinched for time yet want that homemade Pinterest-y touch. 😉
