If you’re looking to decorate on a budget, we’ve got a quick and easy idea for creating rustic, personalized initial tags for plain Christmas stockings. While you could always knit or crochet your own stockings, I didn’t want to spend the extra time, so we found a 4-pack of 18″ natural white stockings on Amazon for just about $15! (Link below.)
For the personalized tags, we used slices from a seasoned branch, cutting them into discs about 1/4″ thick. Each disc is roughly 3 1/2″ in diameter, but you can easily adjust the size depending on your preference. We then grabbed some baker’s twine we had lying around and used it to attach the tags to the stockings. We did consider using traditional brown twine, which would have matched nicely, but decided to go with the baker’s twine for a more festive, Christmas-y touch.
This simple project adds a charming rustic feel to your holiday décor without breaking the bank!
Next, we drilled a hole for the string.
Lastly, I went on Pinterest and instantly was inspired by a lettering that I found and used a pencil to outline the design. Then with a fine tip sharpie, I drew the letters the way I wanted them to look. Finally, erased any remaining pencil lines. We had red and white bakers twine so we used that but any twine will do. Voilà! So easy! I highly recommend this if you’re pinched for time yet want that homemade Pinterest-y touch. 😉
